If you thought the Avengers were the only superhero gang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you haven't been paying attention. Marvel Studios' The Eternals, which tells the story of a group of interstellar superheroes who protect the earth from the villainous Deviants, proved to be one of the biggest theatrical releases of 2021. And now home audiences can watch the film, directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, on Disney+ starting on January 12, 2022.

The film, which stars Gemma Chan, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Salma Hayek, will be available to view in IMAX Advanced, which is available on all devices that support Disney+. The feature, available on thirteen of Disney+'s Marvel films to date, brings the IMAX experience to home viewers by offering an expanded aspect ratio of 1.90:1, resulting in a picture that takes up the full screen.

Where can you stream Eternals?

You can stream Eternals, as well as upcoming Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios titles, on Disney+ starting January 12, 2022. What is Eternals About?

Eternals is the story of ten immortal aliens, each possessing a unique superpower, who were sent to earth in 5000 B.C. to eliminate a race called the Deviants. This group of heroes, named the Eternals, remained on the planet for thousands of years, wiping out the last of the Deviants in the 1500s, and once their task was completed, they stayed and waited for their creator, a Celestial named Arishem.

In the present day, the Eternals realize that their work is not done when a new Deviant named Kro (voiced by Bill Skarsgård) arrives and threatens them all. Arishem (voiced by actor David Kaye) informs them that Kro is just the beginning of their problems and that they need to prepare for something called the Emergence, an event that will threaten Earth's very existence.

Among the big-name stars in the film, Salma Hayek stars as Ajak, the leader of the Eternals on Earth, while Angelina Jolie stars as warrior Thena, and Gemma Chan as Sersi, Ajak's confidante and successor. The film, based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name, is part of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and though it was one of the highest-grossing films of 2021, a sequel has not yet been announced.
